iPhone goes Multiplayer!

Apple announced today that the next iPhone OS update will include multiplayer in games using the phones (so far useless) Blutooth capability. It will also introduce the ability to download DLC without even having to open up the App Store!

The 3.0 update will be introduced in the summer, woop woop!

Resident Evil 5 multiplayer DLC revealed?

It seems that new multiplayer game modes will be released as DLC in the near future for Resi 5!

Seeing the list of trophies, ten are included which revealed game modes which are not in the retail copy. They disappear as soon as you sync them up online.

The US game guide say that the game modes are: Slayers, which “plays very similar to Mercenaries, but with players competing against each other to get the highest score from kill infected souls and B.O.Ws. A handicap system helps the player with the lowest points by doubling the amount of points they are awarded (though this doesn’t apply to combo bonuses)” and Survivors, which “is all about Player VS Player action. There are still aggressive creatures present, making the arenas more challenging, but their frequency has been reduced. Combos no longer play a role, as the points you score are directly received from dealing damage to other players.”

Here’s that list of dissapearing trophies:

  • Army of One – Win 30 matches in Slayers.
  • Eye of the Tiger- Win 30 matches in Survivors.
  • The Team that slays together – Win 30 matches in Team Slayers.
  • We Will Survive – Win 30 matces in Team Survivors.
  • Keep the good times rolling – Chain a 20-defeated combo in Slayers.
  • It takes two to tango – Chain a 40-defeated combo in Team Slayers.
  • It’s all about the points – Score at least 40,000 points in Survivors.
  • There is no “I” in team – Score at least 80,000 points in Team Survivors.
  • Let’s get this party started! – Unlock all selectable characters in Versus.
  • Bring the Pain – Defeat 100 players using physical attacks in Versus.

It’s looking sweeeeeeet!

iPhone gets Metal Gear Touch!

Konami are set to relase a touch based shooter game to go with the Metal Gear Solid 4 story.

It seems as though the game is set to get two releases, a special advance edition which will include the first half of the story, and another which will include the full story, allowing touch gamers to copy over their saved data to continue.

Full details can be read over at the official site.

Time Crisis goes iPhone!

A new Time Crisis game, Time Crisis: Strike hit the Apple App Store today.

Namco’s blurb for the game reads: “Players tap the screen to fire a semi-automatic pistol and unleash all-out attacks on Wild Dog’s army. Players tilt the iPhone/iPod touch to duck, take cover from enemy fire and reload.

“Time Crisis Strike features two game modes – Arcade Mode and Crisis Missions. In Arcade Mode, players move through multiple stages that culminate in a final showdown with the evil Wild Dog.

“Crisis Missions put players’ sharp-shooting skills to the test. On first play, only one Crisis Missions is available; players must beat Wild Dog in arcade mode to unlock the remaining four Crisis Missions.”

It actually looks really cool, and at £3.49 it’s definately worth a download. Just try not to duck and reload behind old people on the way to work tomorrow morning.

iPhone gets new Silent Hill game!

If you go onto the App Store you will notice a new Silent Hill game called ‘Silent Hill: The Escape’.

The official release:

“Silent Hill: The Escape
Silent Hill: The Escape features original gameplay, detailed graphics and spine-chilling sound effects created specifically for the iPhone. In this first-person, 3D shooter survival horror game, players navigate through various levels from an abandoned hospital to a cold subway with a dull flashlight while fighting off monsters and faceless nurses. The battery of the flashlight slowly dies throughout the game, limiting the player’s vision as they search for a key to escape the monster-infested labyrinth. Players also carry a gun for protection to ward off the trail of chasing monsters. Taking full advantage of the iPhone’s capabilities, players must employ the tilt sensor and skillfully tap the bullets to reload the revolver. Silent Hill: The Escape is available for $7.99 from the Apple App Store.”

It looks alot like the same concept as the arcade shooter version of the game, if anyone has played it before.

Definately worth a purchase!
