New Guitar Hero games to be released this year!
Activision have announced a bunch of new Guitar Hero titles which will see a release sometime this year.
First off, we have Guitar Hero: Modern hits for the Nintendo DS, which is the third game in the series on the DS. It will include Weezer, Coldplay, Fall Out Boy, Tenacious D and The Strokes.
The next will see a compilation of the games best songs, which will be released on all major consoles.
The last is a game which Activison say will be a “major restage” on the Guitar Hero series.
The latter two haven’t had any proper details released as of yet, but we will let you know when they are!
Pokémon Platinum gets May release
Pokémon Platinum, which is a fusion of Diamond and Pearl, will see a release date in May this year. The game, acting on the same principles as Pokémon games like Yellow and Emeraled, fuses together both versions of the game and will also include a bunch of new features which include: “new ways to play online at the Wi-Fi Plaza over the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection and the ability to save your greatest victories in the Vs. Recorder.” and a new area to explore; “…brand new Distortion World, governed by neither time nor space”.
Nintendo say they have also added “An all-new Battle Frontier, a special building packed with challenges and tournaments, is accessible after defeating the ‘Elite Four’ and the Pokémon League Champion – the game’s final boss Trainers – and gaining a ferry ticket to the Fight Area…In addition, the Global Trade Station from Pokémon Diamond Version and Pokémon Pearl Version has been expanded and renamed the Global Terminal, where you can check out other people’s battles,”
You will also be able to get the Pokemon Giratina in “Original Forme”.
That’s quite alot of new features, if your ready to go through the story again then it will definately be worth it!
GTA: Chinatown Wars DS will include online co-op mode!
According to fliers being given out at the New York Comic Com, Rockstars upcoming Grand Theft Auto game will feature an online co-operative mode.
Rockstar haven’t officially announced it, but we’re sure they will soon.
DSi looks set to be expensive!
Nintendo President Satoru Iwata announced today that when the DSi gets a European release, the price will be siginificantly higher than the DS Lite.
“This time, considering the current foreign currency exchange rates, there is no possibility of selling DSi overseas with the same price as DS Lite at all. There will have to be a difference in price. With this price difference, I think that the DS Lite and DSi will be sold side by side in the Americas and in Europe, but I will not be able to comment on their ratio today as we have not announced the prices and we will have to see how people react to the announcement.” He said.
Not that it will be overpriced or anything…
The DS gets new LEGO game.
Hot off the announcement that the next movie-installment LEGO game will be based on the Harry Potter movies, Publisher Warner announced LEGO Battles for the Nintendo DS.
It will include a multiplayer mode thorough it’s WiFi connection, and Multi Card play.
The press release states that “Through six distinct story lines, players build their own Lego bases and battle teams as they engage in over 70 different levels, mixing and matching units to create the ultimate customized Lego squad…These unique Lego battles teams see pirate swordsmen fighting side-by-side with wizards and aliens; dragons battling ninjas; and pirate ships launching broadsides against spacecraft and knights.”
It’s shaping up to look pretty good, let’s hope more decent DS titles like this will be announced this year.
Four new Need for Speed games announced!
EA have obviously killed the announcement that the Need for Speed series was dead by announcing FOUR new games that will be released later this year.
The announced titles so far are:
Need for Speed: Swift, which EA say is going to focus on more realistic simulation than any other previous titles.
Need for Speed: Nitro, for the Wii and DS, which will be more of an Arcade racer.
Need for Speed World Online, will be an online only racer by EA Singapore. It will see a release in the Far East before we get it here.
The fourth one is still being kept secret by EA, and is in production at EA Blackbox.
More news as it’s announced!
