World at War console DLC released today, and PC patch!

The first DLC map pack for Call of Duty: World at War has been released today on Xbox Live and the Playstation Store.

Here’s the details:

  • “Station” offers a bombed out underground train station littered with destroyed subway cars, hidden passageways, loading platforms and second story overlooks. This medium sized map is perfect for dominating Capture the Flag and other team games and provides a wide range of combat options from close range choke points to hidden sniper spots.
  • Fire-bombed Berlin provides the backdrop for “Nightfire,” an intense battlefield for mid to large-scale team games. Shelled buildings and ruins of the city provide coverage among the war-ravaged streets, and the flames of the burning city expose the enemy running through the night. Fight for your life knowing that this fiery urban battlefield may soon be your grave.
  • “Knee Deep” takes place on the island of Peleliu in a once tranquil village turned chaotic Japanese command center. Aiming to retrieve the valuable intel housed in the command post, troops fight through the jungle, wade knee deep in streams and take battle positions in fortified Japanese bunkers to secure this important communication center. Ideal for all combat scenarios and designed for larger team games and objective matches.
  • The fan favorite 4-player co-op Nazi Zombies Bonus Mode returns with “Verrückt,” a terrifying Zombie asylum located in the outskirts of Berlin. The map splits the four players into pairs, challenging the two teams to find each other for survival. Featuring more weapons, perks via the addition of Perks-a-Cola machines, electroshock defenses and the endless Nazi Zombie horde…

Treyarch also announced more info on the upcoming PC patch:

Hi all,

Just a quick update to the PC Patch 1.4 status. This is the patch which will include the DLC Map Pack 1 content, as well as address a few issues with the game.

Items Addressed:

* “Tank Lag” with logfile enabled
* Improvements to the MP spawn logic
* Autobalance functionality in various game modes

A complete list of change will be posted when the patch releases. We are working as quickly as possible to get this patch and DLC out as soon as possible.

Secret Agent Clank gets PS2 release!

The hit PSP game ‘Secret Agent Clank’, will be seeing a release on the PS2 this May!

The game is going through it’s finishing touches at the moment, but it’s great that Sony are still releasing games for their, now 9 year old(!), console!

Here’s the official word:

“High Impact Games put together an awesome game and we wanted to make sure that all the great gameplay moments from Secret Agent Clank were preserved from the original PSP title…

…We have therefore focused a great deal of our time and energy on rebuilding all the levels, characters and effects to take advantage of the additional power of the PlayStation 2. Also given the different controller we wanted to bring back the lock-strafe camera mode seen in previous games, since a lot of us have enjoyed using it to great effect to blow stuff up over the years.”

iPhone goes Multiplayer!

Apple announced today that the next iPhone OS update will include multiplayer in games using the phones (so far useless) Blutooth capability. It will also introduce the ability to download DLC without even having to open up the App Store!

The 3.0 update will be introduced in the summer, woop woop!

NO Mass Effect 2 for PS3!

EA have announced some of the first details on Mass Effect 2, and it seems likely that the game will be an Xbox 360 and PC only outing. Here’s the official briefing:

EDMONTON, Alberta – (Business Wire) Leading video game developer BioWare, a division of Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:ERTS) today officially announced Mass Effect 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the multi award-winning 2007 hit, Mass Effect. The Mass Effect trilogy is a masterful science fiction adventure set in a vast universe filled with dangerous alien life forms and mysterious uncharted planets. In this dark second chapter, Saren’s evil army of Geth soldiers has just been defeated, and humans, who are still struggling to make their mark on the galactic stage, are now faced with an even greater peril…

“We’re going to surpass the extraordinary gaming experience we brought our fans in Mass Effect by delivering intensified combat and expanded weapon options as well as increased depth of planet exploration, all while delivering a powerful, emotionally engaging story,” said Dr. Ray Muzyka, General Manager and CEO, BioWare and General Manager and Vice President, EA.

“Mass Effect 2 is shaping up to be an unforgettable RPG-shooter experience, taking players on a non-stop roller-coaster ride filled with stunning plot twists and no-holds-barred action.”

Mass Effect 2 is coming to PC and the Xbox 360 video game system in Early 2010.

So it seems that we will not be seeing Shepard on the Playstation, well not yet anyways.

We’ll post more as soon as we hear!
